A celebration of sound
Le Guess Who? is considered one of the most forward-thinking festivals in the world. It focuses on sounds that are rarely or never heard elsewhere but offer new perspectives on what’s possible within music.
Le Guess Who? returns to Utrecht from November 6th–9th. For four days, the festival takes over the city with performances in music venues, theaters, churches, canal cellars, and clubs.
The line-up includes, among others, Rizwan-Muazzam Qawwali, nephews of qawwali master Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, who will present a series of performances during a three-day residency. Curator Tianzhuo Chen and dancer/choreographer Siko Setyanto will present the multidisciplinary performance Moyang 先祖 & Seaman 漁師. Nicolás Jaar is collaborating with Pakistani-American artist Ali Sethi, blending traditional South Asian melodies with electronics. Lebanese artists Jad Atoui, Anthony Sahyoun, and Sandy Chamoun will present Ghadr غدر, a project fusing electronics with vocals rooted in classical Arabic music. Iggor Cavalera, co-founder of Sepultura, and Attila Csihar (Void ov Voices) will perform together for the first time.
Also on the program: Colombian artist Lido Pimienta; drone legends SUNN O))); Jamaican roots reggae group The Congos; gyrofield, a rising star in electronic music; DIY noise rock band Unwound; musician and visual artist Lonnie Holley; Berlin-based DJ and producer Objekt; saxophonist, poet, and activist Alabaster DePlume; drummer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Valentina Magaletti; Peruvian cumbia legends Los Wembler’s de Iquitos — and much more.
