Boundary-pushing and poetic pop music with metaphorical lyrics
Dutch-Moroccan singer Roufaida blends tradition, poetry, and activism into boundary-pushing pop music. Inspired by her North African roots and Arabic poetry, she transforms contemporary challenges into unconventional melodies and metaphorical lyrics. She has previously performed at festivals such as Down The Rabbit Hole, Into The Great Wide Open, and Noorderslag, and has shared the stage with artists like Xavier Rudd, Balthazar, Melody Gardot, and Eefje de Visser. This fall, the Rotterdam-based singer is releasing a new album — and she’s bringing it live to EKKO.
