Bob Mollema

For EKKO, Bob Mollema has created a group of extravagant stage creatures. Alongside these characters, you’ll also encounter other works of his in this exhibition. In this post, Bob shares more about his creative process:

“I work as an illustrator, artist, and musician. All three of these disciplines are deeply connected — the inspiration comes from the same source, but the way it’s expressed varies.”

“I often use oil pastels, chalk, pencil, and other materials that let me work roughly, boldly, and wildly. I try to create everything in one go, so that the raw energy transfers directly onto the canvas or panel. This way, it can resonate like a language, rather than be filtered through ideas of perfection. For the exhibition at EKKO, I’ve hung a few large-scale works — so they really burst into the space!”

Bob Mollema’s exhibition will be on view for the next two months during concerts and club nights in the EKKO café.
