Gnawa reggae/desert blues
meet and connect through traditional North African Gnawa music
De Voorkamer: North African Grooves
De Voorkamer is an open space in Utrecht where people come together to meet other cultures. By working with peoples’ creativity and talents, we connect diverse cultural backgrounds on a personal level. In our collaboration with EKKO we thrive to provide a professional stage for the talents of our community. The first edition of the collaboration will be all about the music of the desert. This night KUSH Collective from Sudan and Samira’s Blues from Morocco will meet and connect through traditional North African Gnawa music.
Samira's Blues brings North African spirituals and originals with Arabic, Berber and African roots, under the inspiring leadership of singer and songwriter Samira Dainan. Since the EP release in Paradiso, her spiritual 'desert blues' has conquered the public from Amsterdam to the Sahel.
