Paul Pfeiffer – Live From Neverland

In collaboration with BAK, the Basis voor Actuele Kunst in Utrecht, in our old smoking room, you can currently see the work of Paul Pfeiffer, an American sculptor, photographer and video artist. He applies magnification and repetition to images from pop culture to enhance their psychological effects. In doing so, he simultaneously explores how media images shape our perception of the world and ourselves.

This can also be seen in his video installation Live From Neverland, which consists of two separate videos in which Michael Jackson responds to accusations of child abuse while a chorus of eighty voices recite his monologue. This creates a disturbing dissonance and shows the relationship between leader and crowd.
