AMERICAN HARPIST MESMERIZES WITH DREAMY AMBIENT AND SOUNDSCAPES

Using minimal means, American harpist Mary Lattimore has been making maximum impact since 2014. Piece by piece, secretly almost, Lattimore’s serene ambient compositions take the listener into a silky-smooth dream world where busy workdays, public transportation delays and wet socks in the bathroom no longer exist. No wonder Lattimore – who was previously featured on Le Guess Who? – has been frequently asked over the years to create soundtracks and make contributions to the music of others, including Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker, Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore and Kurt Vile. On her layered new album Goodbye, Hotel Arkada, Lattimore is joined in turn by Slowdive singer Rachel Goswell and The Cure’s Lol Tolhurst. Yet Lattimore’s harp always remains the protagonist: nearly a decade after her debut, her music appears to have lost none of its melancholy and mystery.

Support: LOEMA
LOEMA is a three-member band from Utrecht, consisting of members Loes Bisschop (vocals, keys, bass), Max van Westerop (guitar, vocals), and Nelleke Grimberg (keys, vocals, percussion). Dreamy vocals deliver sultry lyrics about bygone love. The members playfully switch between instruments, intertwining defined guitar sounds, subdued electronics, and eerie samples into a vulnerable, dark whole.
