DANISH POST-PUNK BAND EVOLVED INTO CONTEMPORARY ICON
For over a decade, the Danish group Iceage has been among the most influential and tastemaking guitar bands in the world. The formation debuted with minimalist punk but has since undergone a continuous evolution, traversing theatrical rock, melodramatic Americana, and Britpop full of bravado. This drive for innovation has resulted in five utterly distinctive albums, each without a misstep. The standout of the band remains the enigmatic Elias Bender Rønnenfelt, simultaneously the angel and devil on your shoulder, and a true reincarnation of Nick Cave in his Birthday Party years. Under his inspiring leadership, Iceage continues to thrive and simultaneously serves as a source of inspiration for contemporaries.
Support: shoom
The five-piece formation shoom emerged in early 2022 and made their debut in the Groningen scene with an intimate living room concert. After opening for the legendary band Battles, performing at ESNS, and rocking the VERA basement bar in a sold-out EP release show, shoom hit the top 10 of 3voor12’s ‘The Best of Groningen Ground’ in 2023 with their single “Birds”. With their loud swinging guitars, poignant sax solos, and subtle rhythms, shoom showcases influences from all corners of music: from black midi to John Coltrane and from MF DOOM to British neo-jazz.
