Beloved EKKO guests create sincere, uplifting folk-rock with mantra-like vocals
Tim Showalter and his Strand of Oaks are loyal and cherished guests of our stage; after two sold-out shows in 2014 and 2017, the sincere folk rock band returns to EKKO for a third time. The last time they were here, the tour revolved around the album ‘Hard Love’, which was primarily a reintroduction to the sincere, emotional, and personal lyrics of the universally loved frontman. This time, everything revolves around the most recent album ‘Miracle Focus’, which took three years to create. Tim worked with one goal in mind: the album is intended to make listeners feel good. He writes about it: “Throw in a healthy mix of Ram Dass, yoga, Freddie Mercury, Alice Coltrane, and Beastie Boys plus over a year of writing and building the extremely dense architecture of the songs, and Miracle Focus was born” It results in playful, rhythmic songs with synths and mantra-like vocals, intended to lift everyone who listens to them a little. Or simply FUN, as he aptly puts it himself.
