Dummy
Dummy from Los Angeles brings a powerful blend of psych-pop and sparkling guitar-pop, as heard on their debut album ‘Mandatory Enjoyment’ from 2021. The album was praised by critics such as Pitchfork and Stereogum, marking their rapid rise as a refreshing independent band. After extensive tours across the US and Europe, Dummy has further developed their sound towards a more psychedelic and experimental approach on their new album ‘Free Energy’. Embracing a more robust, danceable style enriched with electronic textures and innovative rock elements, Dummy reflects their dynamic musical growth.
GIFT
In the spring of 2023, this New York quintet came to Utrecht for the first time for a sold-out show at ACU to promote their debut album Momentary Presence. The record, which also caught the attention of the indie label, Captured Tracks. GIFT’s second album is in the works, and the first single from the (always tricky) second album, Wish Me Away. Catchy, jangly guitar, driving rhythm section, icy vocals, and thick synths. Shoegaze, but also psychedelic kraut and new wave. Just listen, and then listen again. Excited for the new album and their return to Utrecht, this time at dB’s.
