ROTTERDAM POST-PUNK AND NEW WAVE EXCELS IN NOISINESS AND MADNESS

“One of the great contemporary European rock bands,” according to Louder Than War. For the Rotterdam-based quartet Rats on Rafts, the role of agitator and innovator fits like a glove. The post-punk sensation is known for their explosive live shows, with which they have rapidly built a solid reputation both domestically and internationally. They’ve toured all over Europe, played at festivals such as Glastonbury, Le Guess Who?, and Eurosonic, and shared the stage with the likes of Pere Ubu, The Chills, The Nightingales, and Franz Ferdinand. Luckily, they’ve also spent plenty of time in the studio between performances, now leading to preparations for a fourth album. A first glimpse of this is the brand new single ‘Hibernation’, which they will of course bring to EKKO.

Support: L’orne

The self-proclaimed sweet and fun Rotterdam band L’orne mixes melancholic heavy music with slowcore and post-rock. Their songs, filled with chaotic noise, explore themes like death, dreams, depression, and loneliness, and are described by fans as a “kaleidoscope of moods.” With their emotional depth in both live performances and recordings, they draw listeners into their story, and this spring they will be warming up the audience for RATS ON RAFTS.
