Perfect Indie Disco XL is back with the traditional end-of-year edition; a glorious indie celebration at EKKO to close out the year. Featuring a musical New Year’s conference by Joost Oomen, an indie pop quiz, and two promising live acts from the Netherlands. Host St. Paul will enjoy oliebollen and spin tracks from the kickoff deep into the night.
Future Husband
The indie pop quartet Future Husband has appeared at events like Grasnapolski, Best Kept Secret, and Noorderslag. Their mix of cinematic atmospheres, vibrant guitars, and nostalgic synths offers an honest projection of anxiety, sadness, and celebration. With an eye on the future, their debut album is set to release this year.
Joost Oomen
Poet, writer, and performer Joost Oomen is known for his immersive poetry and theatrical performances. As a former house poet for the University of Groningen and city poet of Groningen, he has made a significant mark on the poetry scene. Last season, he shone with his solo show “All Poets Have Golden Helicopters” at festivals such as Lowlands, Oerol, and De Parade. His style brings poetry to life in an accessible way, consistently surprising the audience.
Velocity Made Good
Velocity Made Good is cutting, direct, and dangerous. Armed with synths, guitar, and live drums, the shows of this duo range from a calm stillness to a heavy storm, combining refined EBM and electronics with rock influences. In the summer of 2023, the two undertook a residency on the Wadden Sea, writing the material for their live show while sailing, with microphones in the mast and modulars in the forepeak. The music that has emerged from this is their personal interpretation of the place they come from, which they bring to the dance floor with intense energy.
DJ St. Paul
DJ St. Paul returns to elevate and surprise us with a sharp cross-section of all things independent. From Fontaines D.C. to Little Simz and from The Cure to Marie Davidson, a selection of indie in all shapes and sizes.
