The last night of warm club sounds, challenging sets, and experiments from the best selectors.
Welcome to Weerd: here we bring people together with warm-blooded club sounds, brought to you by the best selectors. Expect challenging, long sets full of experimentation and electrifying boogie, funk, disco, house, and soulful grooves. With this edition, we close a chapter. After more than two years of memorable Weerd events at EKKO, the organization is now leaving the EKKO nest. They will return in a different form, but more on that later. And they’re not leaving without going out with a bang. For this special final edition on the bill: Rob Manga (all night long).
A selector who has been active for over 30 years, mostly in the capital; Rob Manga’s legend began in the 90s and early 00s, where he played at countless iconic locations and parties. His multi-genre approach has one foot in the soulful and the other in the raw, with eyes on a sweating dancefloor and a love for past musical cultures. He was at the forefront of successful nights like “Bassline,” “Legends,” and “I Love Vinyl,” and has collaborated with many national and international artists. Today, he is still highly active in the nightlife scene and beyond, from being the music director at the famous soundbar “Bambino” in Paris to regularly spinning DJ sets at Berghain/Panoramabar.
A creative spirit passionate about sharing his love for dance music, a living legend who will showcase his extensive vinyl collection in a 4.5-hour set. A fitting end to an era. We’ll raise a glass, dance, and perhaps shed a small tear.
This is the last edition of Weerd at EKKO, but the organization remains active. For information on future events outside of EKKO, you can follow the organization on Instagram.
