an evening of shoegaze, slowcore and dreampop

Online, it’s unanimous: shoegaze, dreampop, and slowcore are experiencing a glorious revival. Think of the walls of sound from My Bloody Valentine, the dreamy melancholy of Beach House, or the whisper-soft introspection of Mazzy Star. Even cult favorites like Duster are suddenly seeing astronomical listener numbers and streams. On this evening, we’re bringing the international buzz to Dutch soil with a selection of local and emerging acts that embody these sounds to perfection. Expect hazy soundscapes, deep basslines, and a touch of nostalgia—but with a contemporary twist. Whether you’re looking for an evening full of youthful memories or are curious about the sound of tomorrow, this one’s for you.

Coaster
Coaster is the folky slowcore project from Utrecht led by Bart Appel and Paul Dijkman. Both guitarists quickly bonded over their shared love of music. Inspired by lo-fi and slowcore acts from the ’90s and ’00s, they capture memories and atmospheres, translating them into intimate dreampop. Their melancholic music revolves around resilience and appreciating the small moments in life.

Crashing
Crashing, the newly formed musical project by multi-instrumentalist Jasper Smits, originally began as an outlet for releasing new solo material. Drawing clear influences from the wild late-’80s shoegaze and alt-rock acts, Smits creates a unique and diverse palette of sounds, blending contemporary genres and soundscapes.

Honey I’m Home
Welcome home! This five-piece band from Amsterdam features musicians whose résumés read like a “who’s who” of the city’s vibrant indie scene. With (former) connections to bands like Marathon, Jagd, and Banji, Honey I’m Home offers a fresh take on ’90s alternative rock.

L’Orne
The sirens of Rotterdam, united in L’Orne, sing songs that seem to come straight from the ether. This four-piece band, enhanced by the visuals of their in-house VJ, creates dynamic tracks at the intersection of slowcore, noiserock, postrock, and shoegaze. For L’Orne, live performance is as essential as writing their music; they are two inseparable sides of the same coin.

Red Vain (DJ)
Red Vain is a Dutch dreampop act that turns dreamscapes into sound. For this evening, Red Vain won’t perform live but will take over the DJ booth to maintain the atmosphere between sets seamlessly. Expect a carefully curated selection of music that carries you from act to act, keeping the dreamy energy of the night alive.
