FROM DECKS TO DEALS: WOMEN+ IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY
The line-ups are slowly changing: more and more women and non-binary DJs are taking the stage. At the same time, there is still much to gain. What does a music industry look like in which everyone gets equal opportunities, feels safe, and has the space to grow—both on and off stage?
In this lecture, we explore where the friction still lies and where opportunities can be found. Why is it still important to talk about representation and safety, even if the numbers are cautiously rising? What barriers do women+ and non-binary artists encounter in the scene? And which initiatives and ideas can move us forward?
Moderator Loïse van Dijk (ZORA) will talk with Bella Hall (DJ, part of AMPFEMININE), Kimmah (DJ, active with N8W8 Rotterdam), and Flo Hollander (Nightlife Coordinator Utrecht). With their diverse backgrounds and perspectives, they will shed light on how nightlife culture can be made more inclusive and safer.
