EKKO 40

In 2026, EKKO celebrates its 40th anniversary, so there’s something to celebrate! 🎈

With the campaign “40 years of never getting big”, we kick off our anniversary year, looking back while also looking ahead.

Since our beginnings in 1986 as a youth centre on Bemuurde Weerd, we’ve never stopped moving forward. Precisely because we never became ‘big’, we were able to keep experimenting, give talent a stage at an early point, and play a connecting role in Utrecht’s music and nightlife scene. With pride, and above all, a lot of joy, we’ve been doing this for 40 years… and that’s definitely something worth celebrating.

This page will soon be filled with special anniversary programmes and everything we create around 40 years of EKKO.
