DUTCH BANDS DELIVER ULTRA-DANCEABLE PSYCHEDELICA AND FUNK
Cavolo Nero
The Utrecht-based psychedelic groove band Cavolo Nero draws inspiration from funk, disco, and afrobeat. They bring a danceable sound with a catchy mix of falsetto hooks and ripping synth solos. Their debut EP was released in 2022, followed by a nationwide tour with Popronde. In February 2024, their new EP ‘Nightshade’ was released, followed by a sold-out club tour. This summer, festivals and new singles are planned, along with a second club tour that will, of course, include EKKO.
Cocobolo
Cocobolo feels like playing outside in your living room. According to the band, their music sounds like how children think: playful, free, and full of imagination. The band proves that instrumental music can be just as catchy as a pop hit. Inspired by artists such as Menahan Street Band, Orions Belte, and Yussef Dayes, the three band members create their own diorama on the album ‘Consider It Done’. A world where palm trees grow at the North Pole and where surf rock, ’60s soul, and ’90s hip-hop come together in Cocobolo’s modern vintage sound.
