DANCEABLE SYNTHPOP FROM MONTREAL AT THE CROSSROADS OF FILM, FASHION, AND FANTASY
The Canadian electronic band Desire, currently based in Palm Springs, creates synthpop where film, fashion, and fantasy converge on the dance floor. On stage, singer Megan Louise shines with her French and English vocals, complemented by the Italo, disco noir, and synth wave sounds of composer Johnny Jewel (known from Chromatics, Glass Candy, and Twin Peaks). Desire gained worldwide fame with their hit ‘Under Your Spell,’ which played a prominent role in the neo noir film Drive from 2011 and was heard during catwalk shows of fashion houses such as Dior and Chanel. The band delivers a total sensory experience on stage, with performances that are visually and audibly impressive. In October, their new album will be released, and at the end of the year, they will tour Europe with a headline tour, which includes a stop in Utrecht.
