THE UTRECHT NIGHT IN 2025 HIGHLIGHTS AND INSIGHTS
As 2025 draws to a close, it’s time for a festive look back at a year filled with Dubai chocolate, Labubus and matcha. But there were also important things that had nothing to do with consumption: for clubbers and music lovers, 2025 was a year of packed calendars, rising prices and an oversaturated, constantly shifting nightlife landscape. A host of young Utrecht-based DJs claimed their place on the national scene behind the decks, with their own initiatives or as so-called industry professionals.
That’s why, in this edition of Hoorcollege, we reflect on the developments they went through, how to cultivate this talent (and sustainably give it a place), and what perspectives lie ahead for the night of 2026.
Joining us are DJ Course alumni Emma Neijgh van Lier (Lyrae), Sabine Voskuil (VOLPEVOLPE) and Zoë Tuinder (Zowie). Their former instructors Rashida Tauwnaar (Shug La Sheeda) and Pieter Jansen (Breakfast Club) will also be at the table. We’ll zoom out even further with night mayor Flo Hollander.
Together, we’ll take you through the moments that defined 2025, share insights into the changing club culture and discuss what’s needed to keep Utrecht’s nightlife vibrant in 2026. This way, we’ll all head into the holidays a little warmer and a little wiser.
