A solo performance that explores the boundaries of the human body and our sensory perception
Collaboration with the Utrecht performing arts festival SPRING, a ten-day, internationally oriented festival featuring innovative dance, theater, and performances. They present a performance by Hungarian artist Viktor Szeri, titled fatigue, at EKKO.
fatigue is a solo performance that explores the boundaries of the human body and our sensory perception. Balancing between dance and installation, with video, music, and the body as central elements, the performance offers a hypnotic reflection on the burnout of the dancer, society, and the world around us.
The physical and mental symptoms of burnout, such as mood swings, slow reflexes, and dizziness, slowly and unnoticed infiltrate daily life. What can an artist do with this exhaustion in a world where work seems to be the only thing that matters? It seems that continuous production and the piling up of projects is the path to fulfillment, while it often leads to burnout.
In his solo performance, Viktor Szeri does not hide his fatigue. Inspired by his personal experiences, he creates a choreography around the theme of exhaustion and the desire to do absolutely nothing. He explores the creative process and the limits of his body through the lens of burnout, while also examining how the audience relates to this numb state.
