Post-punk chaos translates into addictive and provocative sound from Dublin
The emerging Irish band Gurriers brings a fusion of post-punk, noise rock, and shoegaze in new, transcendent, and sometimes danceable forms. Over the past few years, the post-punkers have been refining their addictive and provocative sound, slowly moving towards the release of their debut album ‘Come and See’. Inspired by timeless debut albums of The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, The Chemical Brothers, and Black Midi, the first album is not just an ordinary debut but an exciting statement of intent by five people who are tired of politely dealing with chaos. Gurriers has already performed at events such as Into The Great Wide Open, London Calling, Left of the Dial, and Loose Ends, and was a special guest of Tramhaus at their show at the Maassilo. This autumn, catch them with their own show at EKKO. Come and see.
Support: POM
The Amsterdam-based band POM delivers a mix of raw music with a joyful, energetic vibe. Drawing inspiration from Britpop, punk, and garage rock, POM creates their own unique sound, best described as fuzzpop. POM has made a name for themselves with their lively and uplifting shows, a sound they’ve translated into their debut album We Were Girls Together. This well-received album tells a coming-of-age story, inspired by the lead singer’s journey from adolescence to young adulthood, exploring how it affects relationships and embodies the bittersweet feeling of nostalgia. With their upcoming EP, POM returns as a more layered version of themselves, with a newly refined take on their fuzzpop sound.
