Camp, glitter, (no) talent, community: Kaleido is here and proud

We are KALEIDO: a glittering collective of queer performers who facilitate shows where we blur the line between performer and spectator by sharing the stage with the audience. During our interactive theater nights, we handle the hosting, but the audience is invited to perform. It’s a colorful evening where all (lack of) talent is embraced and celebrated!

In our shows, we perform as a collective around a stimulating theme, questioning the spirit of the times with a playful twist. Themes we have explored in the past include queer parenting, substance use, heteronormativity during Christmas, and finding your crowd in the big city. Between our acts, the stage is open for all imaginable acts and performers. The acts are often registered and prepared in advance, but we also offer space for spontaneous outbursts.

For performers, anything is allowed! Whether it’s serenading about being non-binary, pole dancing, attaching microphones to a plastic ball and rolling over it, letting moss speak, or being a tech magician – everything is more than welcome. A colorful evening full of drag, glitter, comedy, bad lip-syncs, and hilarious performances. And of course, dancing after the show as a release!

About KALEIDO:
We organize KALEIDO in the spirit of the No Talent Show of the Radical Faeries. This non-movement started in the 1980s in America as a radical alternative to the conformist tendencies of the normative gay movement, and it has since spread to many parts of the world. Inspired by feminist, ecological, communist, and anarchist ideologies, principles such as equality, autonomy, and self-expression are central to the Faeries.

And this self-expression is most powerfully manifested during the famous No Talent Shows. Our collective consists of a colorful array of Radical Faeries, enchanted by the magic of the No Talent Show, who want to spread and multiply the spirit of this creative whirlwind.

This program is an initiative from EKKO Te Koop, an open call for organizing new initiatives at EKKO
