Warm-hearted Rotterdam folk act resolutely loosens the reins

Nagasaki Swim makes music that instills courage in you, whether you’re just heading to the supermarket or merging onto the highway after a long time. The band from Rotterdam, with two albums and a third in the works, effortlessly moves between warm folk and energetic rock. Their debut album *The Mirror* (2021) and follow-up *Everything Grows* (2023) have already taken them to performances in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and festivals like SXSW and Best Kept Secret. Alongside Boogaard, the usual lineup includes multi-instrumentalist Kat Kalkman (Library Card), bassist Juliette van Balen (Sarah Julia), and drummer Paul Dijkman (Coaster) – and when the weather allows, a revolving cast of musicians on violin, lap steel, and saxophone. Depending on the season, the album, and the direction of the wind, the band sounds just a bit different each time, and with every show, the question arises: where will ‘The Weight Pt. 2’ land this time?

Support: La Loye
Amsterdam-based singer-songwriter La Loye describes the music she creates as unconditionally loving indiefolk. With her beautiful whispering vocals and dark guitar playing in the vein of Big Thief and The National, she knows how to grab the listener’s attention and then reassure them that everything will be okay. Live, she presents herself both raw and introspective, without losing the melancholy that runs like a red thread through her songs.

This show is part of a pilot by EKKO and booking agency Friendly Fire. For all concerts organized jointly by EKKO and Friendly Fire in 2025, we offer three different ticket prices: a regular ticket, a lower-budget ticket, and a higher-budget ticket. The latter two categories are available in limited quantities, while supplies last. Since financial considerations play a significant role in the decision to go out and not everyone has the same budget, we want to explore the impact of offering multiple ticket prices.
