World-class songwriter creates addictive guitar pop with diverse influences

As easily as Soccer Mommy’s music nestles in your head, her songs are typically as complex as can be. Sophie Allison began writing guitar-pop songs in her bedroom at a very young age, and you can hear that years-long experience in her songwriting. With her studio debut ‘Clean’ in 2018, the artist from Nashville definitively confirmed that a world-class singer-songwriter had emerged. On the two albums that followed, you can hear how Soccer Mommy gradually moves away from the intimate sound she started with; grander and more adventurous, incorporating influences from the nineties and synth-driven genres like new wave. All of this without losing the intimacy and emotional depth of her earlier music, and that’s what makes this artist so remarkable and timeless.

Support: ALOYSE
The 3-headed indie-folk project of singer-songwriter Bernice Aloyse Pisters combines dynamic vocals with acoustic guitar-driven compositions. Inspired by indie and grunge from the 90s and artists like Soccer Mommy, Jeff Buckley, and PJ Harvey, they blend these influences into their music. Her songs touch on authenticity, deeply exploring the human experience and questioning the complexity of life. Last February, ALOYSE released their second single “wrong side of the bed – live,” a spontaneous recording that examines shift in perspective after losing touch with reality. ALOYSE aims to open a dialogue about these common but rarely discussed themes and will bring this discussion to Utrecht this coming summer as the opening act for Soccer Mommy.
