A musical journey through the stories and sounds of heritage.
Synthese is a musical journey through the stories and sounds of heritage, set in unconventional locations across Utrecht. On December 12, Synthese collaborates with Ito Collective with the aim of celebrating, connecting, and sharing East and Southeast Asian culture. Together, we weave traditional compositions with contemporary underground sounds, creating a musical landscape that reflects the full spectrum of East and Southeast Asian musical expression.
HZY
HZY is a multidisciplinary Taiwanese artist based in the Netherlands. Her work explores DIY instruments, live performances, and interactive installations, blending everyday life, human connection, and the absurdity of existence with subtle humor and philosophical depth.
MAIKY is a Dutch/Vietnamese artist and member of Ito Collective. She expresses herself through the dance style **krump**. With a background in design, she creates projects where movement and technology merge. She uses her body to interact with sound, light, video, and various experimental media.
To Van Kao
To Van Kao is a DJ, producer, and vocalist drawing influences from electro, techno, grime, UK bass, and deconstructed club music. For this performance, she plays an instrument rarely seen in Europe: the **Dan Bau**.
TWIENA
Growing up with a mix of Western values and traditional Asian culture, it took TWIENA several years to find the courage to pursue her passions wholeheartedly. She provides her audience with energetic vibes that blur the lines between rolling and industrial techno, ghetto grooves, trance-like textures, and influences from the electronic scenes of the UK, Detroit, and South America. TWIENA creates unique, refreshing combinations of sound.
Ambu Bambu
A softly spoken personality with a musical vision and creativity that scream: *hear me, feel me, move with me.* Ambu Bambu’s music tells emotional stories about the desire to belong while being destined to float somewhere in between. Their selections and productions move between breakbeat and bass, through dubby haze and offbeat house and techno — just strange enough to make you question the genre.
Outside the club, Ambu Bambu builds a world of ambient and experimental electronics through the radio concept **Electronic Identity Crisis** and the latest project **fruit salad** — a platform for mixtapes and multisensory gatherings for fruities and cuties. The studio becomes a playground for their darker side: with distorted breaks, bass-heavy trips, and dizzying rhythms, they create a signature sound.
Ito Collective
Ito Collective celebrates, connects, and shares East and Southeast Asian culture through artistic expression. The name 糸 (*Ito*), Japanese for “thread,” symbolizes their mission: to connect the East and Southeast Asian community in the Netherlands and Europe, and to share this culture with everyone who is curious.
