Le Guess Who & EKKO presenteren

Stranded FM is an unique online radio platform from Utrecht that pushes local musical talent, stimulates creators and provides a hub for the many cultural institutes the city inhibits. Instead of making online radio, for LGW OFF, Stranded FM will focus on offline radio instead. This Saturday program in EKKO will consist of three listening sessions of 45 minutes, each with different guests and themes.

15:15 – 16:00 | Greetje Bijma & Pieter Jansen
Thoughout her extensive career as improvising jazz singer, working together with the likes of Allen Laurillard, Jasper van ’t Hof and more recently Oceanic, Greetje Bijma has heard a lot. In this listening session Bijma will share her inspirations in jazz. Pieter Jansen is owner of record label yeyeh • ninih, where Bijma recently released her collaborative LP with Oceanic titled ‘Swallow A Party’. Jansen is, as a DJ or otherwise, a familiar face in the electronic music scene in both Utrecht and Amsterdam. He will moderate the talk of this listening session.

17:15 – 18:00 | Noiserr & Loma Doom
I could be my listening. A conversation on the art and conflict of listening hosted by Martina Raponi and Femke Dekker (aka Loma Doom)

Exploring multiple concepts of listening, Martina Raponi and Femke Dekker will engage in a conversation on subjects ranging from subversive sonology to podcast politics, from sonic activism to noise therapy and surveillance audiology. Raponi is an artist and writer researching noise and complexity, and also co-founder of Noiserr, an interdisciplinary research group focused on sound. Dekker is also known as Loma Doom, a true radio veteran and beacon of twisted and mesmerizing sounds, whose key working aspect is curiosity.

19:15 – 20:00 | Mark Knekelhuis & Luke Cohlen

You may know Mark Knekelhuis from his label Knekelhuis or as part of hybrid analogue-punk act Violation Immanent alongside Parrish Smith. Knekelhuis is known for pushing the imperfect with a DIY ethos. In recent years his label has built up one of those stand-out catalogues, with contemporary bands like De Ambassade and re-releases from long forgotten rarities. Luke Cohlen is local oddball DJ by night, Stranded FM host by day. Cohlen will be the moderator of this listening session, which will be an exploration of the DIY music scene.
