Sparkling indie folk excels in its love of lo-fi and minimalism
Four tracks, a voice and an omnichord; that’s all you need to deliver an impressive record. Lael Neale proved it in 2021 with her album full of lo-fi, nostalgic songs with poetic lyrics “Acquainted with Night,” for which she signed to the renowned record label Sub Pop. At the beginning of the pandemic, she moved back to her parents’ farm in Virginia; it was in that quiet that she actually began making more up-tempo music. It can be heard on her latest album, “Star Eaters Delight,” which features her signature lo-fi melodies, but now combined with new wave synth beats, a thumping organ and messy guitar riffs.

He has devoted three years to making cassette tape recordings of instrumental compositions and considers his music to be “healing music” from parallel dimensions, with influences ranging from new age to ambient soundscapes.
