a new night born from the desire to dance together again
In a landscape dominated by harder and colder electronic sounds, Parotia, under the leadership of Ajuma from Utrecht, aims to create space for a new sound in Utrecht’s nightlife. Parotia, which refers to the mating dance of the New Guinean bird of paradise of the same name, wants to get people dancing together again with softer and warmer sounds. A step away from individualism and a leap toward each other, presenting a colorful blend in which to experience house, disco, Latin, Afro, and boogie, among many other sounds.
This first edition, Frinda Di Lanco and founder Ajuma will present their selections.
With rare finds from all corners of the world, the Berlin-based Frinda Di Lanco has been getting dance floors moving for years. She has a penchant for vinyl and as the owner of the record store and label “Avec Plaisir,” she is constantly immersed in her passion. She brings necessary variety to the nightlife of the German capital with her “Ciao Amore Baci” clubnight series, which revolves around undiscovered Italian disco classics and through her radio show “Music From Mullets,” she brings undiscovered gems to light. With an extremely danceable mix of boogie, disco, funk, house, and Italo, she will undoubtedly make a memorable debut in Utrecht.
The Utrecht-based Ajuma will take you on a musical journey around the world with the best alternative house, afrobeat, and leftfield disco. With an ear for infectious sounds from all over the world and surprising yet always danceable selections, Ajuma will set the tone for her evening.
