A hazy, dark balance between post-punk and synthwave with Dutch lyrics

Dorpsstraat 3’s music balances between post-punk and synthwave, but also draws inspiration from various musical styles that are far apart both geographically and in time, blending them all together. Sometimes it feels like these influences always belonged together, and other times it leaves you puzzled. In this way, Dorpsstraat 3 tells stories you’ve never heard before.

On a slow day, a group of friends were walking past the abandoned building on Dorpsstraat 3, where the village priest they grew up with used to live. After wandering through the dusty house for a while, they ended up in the basement, where, unlike the rest of the house, they found more than they expected. The basement was full of analog synthesizers, drum machines, and a large record collection. Among the records, they discovered artists like Grauzone, ZZ & de Maskers, Kraftwerk, and Erkin Koray. Inspired by the record collection and the number of empty wine bottles in the basement, they wrote a song about the priest and named themselves after the building where it all began: Dorpsstraat 3.
