INDIEPOP WITH PHILOSOPHICAL DEPTH BROUGHT WITH A DOSE OF COMMON SENSE FROM THE ACHTERHOEK
Astronaut is the musical project of songwriter and amateur philosopher Pelle Bast. His songs are uncompromising and seek naivety in its best form. Grand themes such as sex, love, and the cosmos are sung about, questioned, and ridiculed with humor and lightness. The Dutch-language lyrics reflect philosophical depth, delivered with a down-to-earth Achterhoek style. This year, Astronaut was selected by Popronde and named a 3voor12 talent. Now, he is bringing his band to the stage at EKKO to present his debut album, offering a mix of vulnerable moments, energetic drums, and trumpets to surprise the audience.
Support: Ben Oranje & Dieuwertje
Ben Oranje
Adorned with curls and a deep dark sense of humor, writer and poet Ben (Oranje – not a stage name) characterizes his texts with a heroic, humorous, and above all, sharp touch. He draws inspiration from old stories, history, and human interactions. His mission is to evoke nostalgia for a life you haven’t lived yourself. Accompanied by music and vocals from Zwolle singer-songwriter Jules.
Dieuwertje
Dieuwertje is certain that she doubts. She wanders especially for us in slow motion through the impossible life of a modern woman and describes the route by feeling, allowing her audience to hitchhike for free along highs and lows. Hip-hop inspires her to write without rules and to do what she wants, from poetry to theater. In 2021, she made her debut with the poetry bundle ‘Would so much like to be a rapper.’
