BAND FROM RHODE ISLAND MAKES POLITICAL PUNK ROCK WITH OPTIMISTIC UNDERTONES

Raging vocals, relentless energy and ruthless lyrics; Rhode Island’s five-piece Downtown Boys translate their anger and frustration with the world’s current political and social situation to punk rock. Topics such as capitalism, police brutality and homophobia are central in their songs, and frontwoman Victoria Ruiz’s enormously powerful vocals serve as a voice for anyone who is not being heard. But it certainly doesn’t make the music any less danceable, quite the contrary. The rebellious lyrics are wrapped in lively rhythms and swinging saxophones, proving that the punk rock formation can very well combine upbeat music with a deeper message.

Support: Consensual Peggy
Consensual Peggy is a Band with a capital ‘B,’ unafraid of hysteria. Unpredictable, loud, and fantastically wild. The band emerged from a sense of anger and disbelief towards the patriarchal society. Consensual Peggy could be your lover, your best friend, or your mother, but she could also be your enemy, your hater, or your perpetually challenging partner. It’s your choice. What can you expect exactly? No idea. But you’re welcome to sing along.
