Local producers on the map
EKKO’s deepening and broadening series of interactive talk shows on the club landscape, festivals, and the live circuit, is back! After getting a glimpse into the production kitchen during the previous edition and being taken into the world of festival production, it’s time to dive into the studio: this edition is all about local music producers.
Where expensive equipment and trained specialists were once needed to record music, technological developments now allow anyone with a laptop to create a song. What does this mean for the production process? How is music made nowadays? And by whom?
In this special interactive edition of EKKO Hoorcollege, not only will a producer from Utrecht talk about her/their/his practice, but there will also be room to listen to and discuss submitted work. The evening will kick off with an in-depth interview with Tala Drum Corps about his music and production process. Local Utrecht producers SOFT CLIP (Gele Lambo & puurvuur) will engage in conversation with Tala Drum Corps to learn more about his approach to production and shaping his distinctive sound. Following this, a selection of submitted works will be played on the EKKO sound system, after which there will be space for the creators to reflect and engage in conversation about their music. The evening will conclude with an open decks session, where everyone is invited to share their music.
So, are you a producer from Utrecht or the surrounding area? Submit your music before the 24th of May 23:59 via this button, and it may be played on this evening!
