METICULOUS FOLK SONGS WITH TRACES OF ELECTRONICA AND DREAMPOP
Some music sounds like other music. But the music of Helado Negro? It sounds like a winter day with a watery sun in a clear blue sky, or like a pointillist painting of a vast hilly landscape in pastel colors. For fifteen years, American-Ecuadorian songwriter Roberto Carlos Lange has quietly been making waves with carefully crafted folk songs where refrains are whispered, and hips sway gently as some electronics seep in. In 2024, Lange will release his eighth album, ‘Phasor,’ on which his music has lost no degree of warmth, and traces of dream pop, ambient, and jazz find their way into his ever-expanding musical universe. After performing on the stage of EKKO during the Le Guess Who? festival ten years ago, he is now returning to Bemuurde Weerd for the only Dutch club show of his tour.
