A celebration of sound
Le Guess Who? is considered one of the most forward-thinking festivals in the world. The festival focuses on sounds that you rarely, if ever, hear elsewhere, offering new perspectives on what is possible within music.
Le Guess Who? returns to Utrecht from November 7-10, 2024, for its seventeenth edition. For four days, Le Guess Who? takes over the city with shows from more than 150 artists performing in pop venues, theaters, churches, wharf cellars, and clubs.
Each year, Le Guess Who? invites groundbreaking artists to curate their own special programs – highlighting their inspirations, emerging acts, and like-minded artists – with an emphasis on discovery and exploration. This edition features programs curated by Pakistan-born and Brooklyn-based singer, composer, and producer Arooj Aftab; Japanese psych-rock band Bo Ningen; Paris-based interdisciplinary artist and producer/DJ Crystallmess; the experimental electronic trio DARKSIDE; Mexico-based experimental cellist and composer Mabe Fratti; and one of London’s key musical hubs, Touching Bass.
The program also includes performances by, among others, surrealist blues poet aja monet, whose work revolves around themes such as Black resistance, love, and the relentless pursuit of joy; American singer, bassist, and composer Kim Gordon, known for her boundary-pushing approach to music; the ambassadors of Colombian folk music Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto, who have led Latin American musical traditions like Gaita and Cumbia into new eras since the 1940s; a very rare and extensive set by Theo Parrish, who explores, challenges, and redefines the boundaries of Black dance music; the acclaimed multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and leading neo-soul artist Meshell Ndegeocello; legendary sound system and dub producer Aba Shanti-I; and trumpeter, multi-instrumentalist, creative composer/performer, and author Wadada Leo Smith.
