QUARTET FROM ROTTERDAM BRINGS NUANCED INDIE ROCK WITH A LITERARY LOAD
The Lewsberg quartet from Rotterdam loves literature, that is clear. The band named itself after cult writer Robert Loesberg and once released the single Non-fiction Writer. Astute lyrics and raw guitars are as characteristic for the band as their minimalistic and gentle side. Every now and then they add a violin or an organ part to their modest indie rock songs, but it remains deliberately subdued. On their new album ‘Out and About’, which will be released on September 15 2023, they mainly emphasize the feeling of nuance and thus make an attempt to combat the increasing urge for sensation.
Support: The Grey Pants
The duo Koorn and Van Zevenbergen together form The Grey Pants, a charming project in which both songwriters magnify life’s seemingly trivial aspects into beautiful ballads. In 2018, the duo independently released their debut album, and within a year, their second album, ‘We love Ria,’ was released by Excelsior Recordings. In 2022, The Grey Pants presented their most recent single, ‘Kingsday,’ in which you can hear that the sound palette has intentionally remained limited. Despite these simple ingredients, each song harbors a distinct character and story.
