In her music, L’Rain opens the door to a world of contrasts. In the compositions of the experimental and ambitious multi-instrumentalist, composer, and performer Taja Cheek, sensuality and fear coexist, and hope and despair confront each other. The Brooklyn-born artist has evolved since the release of her debut album in 2017 into a versatile artist unafraid to convey intimate stories in diverse ways and blur the line between band and individual during her performances. All of this comes to its ultimate fruition on her new ‘anti-break-up’ album titled ‘I Killed Your Dog,’ which has earned her a ‘best new music’ label on Pitchfork, among other accolades.
