DOUBLE BILL OF SURREALISTIC AND JOYFUL ELECTROPOP DUO'S

Together with our friends from Vlaams Cultuurhuis de Brakke Grond, we present a show featuring two main acts, one Belgian and one Dutch, with in this double bill the Belgian-Japanese electropop duo Aili and the Brabantian keyboard and button virtuosos of ROLROLROL.

Aili
Surrealistic electropop, joyful electronics, and more, ranging from quirky Japanese fashion to Aili’s father’s takoyaki recipe: that’s Aili. The Belgian-Japanese electropop duo of Aili Maruyama and Orson Wouters emerged after a chance encounter in 2019. Their diverse personalities and spontaneous approach to music resulted in the successful ‘Dansu’ EP in 2021. The duo solidified their position in Belgium with rave reviews from Rolling Stone and striking music videos. Performances on influential radio stations and ecstatic live shows throughout Europe followed. In 2022, they were invited to the Inspire Tokyo Festival, leading to the release of a special Japanese edition of the EP. Now, back in Belgium, they are gearing up for their highly anticipated debut album, ‘Nandakke?’, set to be released on February 23, 2024, on Eskimo Recordings

ROLROLROL
With not too much seriousness, but plenty of Brabantian conviviality, musical bosom buddies Niels Broos and Jameszoo started jamming under the collective name ROLROLROL at EKKO. There, they churned out a lot of bombastic jazz, quirky funk, and cacophonous electro, and above all, even more mischief. Their debut album ‘MUSIC’ was released in June, with the first single featuring a collaboration with Jamie Woon. With their infectious energy, this evening comes to life as these keyboard and button virtuosos carry you along on their wavelength.
