A NIGHT FULL OF WARM CLUB SOUNDS, CHALLENGING SETS, AND EXPERIMENTS BY THE BEST SELECTORS

Welcome to Weerd: here we bring people together with warm club sounds, all from the best DJs. Expect challenging, long sets full of experimentation and sizzling house, acid, disco and soulful grooves. This edition with dj’s Kléo and Guus Christian on the bill.

Kléo
DJ and visual artist Kléo paints musical landscapes with a broad palette of warm grooves and infectious rhythms. Both sensitive and powerful, Kléo is an intuitive force behind the turntables. She selects from an extensive record collection, bringing the dance floor together with seamless vinyl mixes.

Kléo’s DJ sets are a dynamic blend of organic and electronic sounds; an infinity of drum machines, heavy and groovy basslines bordering on the acidic, and abundant melodies. Her deep love for boogie, early Chicago house, and that banging analog electronic vibe from the mid-80s and early 90s form the foundation of her musical output, which is presented with undeniable passion and skill.

Having played numerous shows both at home and abroad Kléo has firmly established herself within the international festival- & clubscene. Recent highlights include Dekmantel Selectors, Lovefest in Serbia and Lost Village with Suze Ijó in England. We’re looking forward to which musical landscapes she’ll bring us with her closing set for Weerd.

Guus Christian
From enchanting, sultry house to blazing disco jams, the soulful element is always present in Guus Christian’s output. From his work as a resident at Blauwdruk, where he welcomed DJs like Mark Grusane, San Soda, and Fred P, to his behind-the-scenes efforts as a label manager for the recently launched Blauwdruk record label. This year also saw the first release of his Blauwdruk label, immediately catching the attention of renowned tastemakers like Red Greg and Antal. In addition Guus co-curates the program for Nijmegen’s electronic music hub Open Source Radio.

As a DJ, Guus draws from the musical ethos of pioneers from Chicago and New York but explores and embraces soulful elements from all eras and geographical locations in his joyful, inviting DJ sets. For us, he always knows to lay down the right tunes at the right time. A DJ that has long been on our radar and definitely one of Nijmegen’s finest. We are more than happy to welcome Guus Christian to kick off our next get-together.
