Cheerful guitar pop songs with just enough emo influences

The New Zealand-born The Beths excel at combining cheerful sounding guitar pop with emo lyrics. The third album of the foursome, ‘Expert In A Dying Field’, was released last year and was well received with many favorable reviews. The twelve tracks explore the same indie-rock-meets-power-pop of previous records, but are now imbued with an audible charge upward. They have previously been spotted at festivals such as Best Kept Secret and The Great Escape, and this summer they will travel down to EKKO.

After ten years as the front woman and bass player of the band Muncie Girls, there are still more arrows to aim for an even more personal approach. Thus, she began writing songs for her solo debut titled ˜Going to Hell’, due out in 2021. It defined her position as a solo artist, thanks to her superior storytelling skills and a knack for understated yet luminous melodies.
